Balloon catheter is the core device of PCI. In clinical use, the effect of balloon dilation catheter will be affected by many factors. Among these factors, the performance of the balloon itself is the most important. Next, we will select two performance indicators to discuss in detail.

The Outer Diameter of Balloon
Balloon diameter is one of the important indexes to evaluate the performance of balloon dilation catheter. The balloon with smaller diameter is easier to pass through stenosis. The outside diameter of the balloon is usually related to the balloon material, folding process and developing ring forging process.
Our balloon dilatation catheter has six features as below. The advanced laser bonding technology ensures the balloon and the catheter smooth transition connection. Soft tapered tip is designed to enhance the trace ability of the catheter with the guide wire; Tip laser forming technique makes the balloon with a small entrance diameter of 0.017 inch, which can enhance the performance of crossing the stenosis. The three wings folding technique ensure the balloon have a minimum profile to easier cross the stenosis. The 2.7F distal shaft is cover with super-lubricity hydrophilic coating, which can offer a superior delivery performance. The tapered core wire can offer a good delivery performance. There is PTFE coating cover on the surface of 2F proximal Hypo tube to enhance push ability.

NBP & RBP
NBP, the nominal burst pressure of the balloon, it refers to the pressure required when the balloon is inflated to the standard size. RBP, the rated burst pressure of the balloon, it refers to the maximum pressure that the balloon can bear. Above RBP, there is a risk that the balloon will burst. High pressure balloon is being favored by many clinicians now.
The RBP of our Selethru® NC PTCA balloon dilatation catheter can be as high as 22atm. After the improvement of the balloon inner tube, it will have a higher rated burst pressure which can be 26-28atm.
